Before you use this trip planner to book your hike, visit the Cooloola Great Walk section of the Queensland Parks and Forests website to plan your hike and know which hike-in camping areas you wish to stay at. Whether you're walking the entire track or just a section, decide which walkers' camps you wish to stay at before creating your booking itinerary.

Walkers' camp conditions

Please note the following conditions apply at all Cooloola Great Walk walkers' camps:

  • 8 unnumbered campsites at each walkers' camp.
  • Maximum of 2 people per campsite.
  • Maximum group size of 6 people.
  • Maximum camp capacity of 16 people.
  • Maximum stay of 1 night at each walkers' camp.

Important safety information

We strongly recommend downloading the Emergency+ app before commencing your hike.

The Emergency+ app is a free app developed by Australia's emergency services, together with government and industry partners. It uses your smartphone's GPS to help provide your location to a Triple Zero (000) operator, enabling emergency services to locate you more quickly if assistance is required.

Please remember that mobile phone coverage is limited or unavailable in many sections of the Cooloola Great Walk. Always carry sufficient drinking water, tell someone your planned itinerary, and be prepared for changing weather conditions.

To book your hiking adventure:

  1. Select your preferred start date using the calendar.
  2. Click on ‘View Availability’.
  3. Check the availability of the camping areas you want to stay at.
    • Close ‘View Availability’.
  4. Select the camping areas you wish to stay at for night 1
    • Select the number of ‘Nights’ and ‘Guests’ required and click ‘Select’.
    • Click ‘Continue’ to add it to your itinerary.
  5. You can ‘View Availability’ at any time when building your itinerary.
  6. Select the next camping area you wish to stay at and follow ‘Step 4’ above.

NOTE: to prevent booking the same camping area twice by mistake, please check that the camping area you are selecting to add to your trip is the one required.

  1. You can see your itinerary being created as you repeat ‘Step 4’ above.
  2. When you have added all the camping areas for your itinerary, click ‘Book Now’ (next to ‘View Availability’) and follow steps to ‘Add & Checkout’.
  3. Complete booking information and payment details to finalise your booking.
  4. You will receive a booking confirmation email within 2 hours (please check Junk folder).
