Dundubara camping area features a large, formal fenced camping area with a variety of sites to choose from and access to walks and other attractions. Camp sites are set back behind the dunes in coastal forest. 9pm noise curfew in place. Located on the central east coast of Fraser Island, approximately 75km north of the Hook Point barge landing area and 19km south of Indian Head. The camping area can be accessed by high clearance 4WDs and off-road camper trailers. Facilities include water taps (treat water before drinking), flushing toilets, $2 coin-operated hot showers, picnic tables, gas barbecues, communal fire rings and washing-up facilities. Rubbish and recycling bins are at QPWS waste transfer station on the beach—1km north of the Dundubara entrance track. A portable toilet waste disposal facility is located on the Dundubara entrance track. Mobile phone coverage is not available, however there is a pay phone near the Dundubara office, a short walk from the camping area.
Wongari (dingo): It is an offence to feed or make food available to a wongari (dingo) or intentionally attract or disturb a wongari (dingo) anywhere on K’gari (Fraser Island), whether on public or private land. Penalties apply. It is recommended that families with children camp in areas with wongari (dingo) deterrent fencing. For information visit https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/kgari-fraser . Fire Prohibition: Open fires must not be lit on QPWS managed areas of K’gari, except in fire rings at Dundubara and Waddy Point camping areas, where visitors must supply their own, clean, untreated milled timber for firewood and/or bring fuel.
