Garry’s Anchorage camping area is located on the south-western coastline of K'gari. The camping area offers open shady camp sites for the weary boat traveller on the Great Sandy Straits. The camping area has picnic tables but no other facilities. Generators are permitted from 9am to 9pm, sound rating must be less than 65 decibels (2.0Kva). Mobile phone coverage is generally not available.
Wongari (dingo): It is an offence to feed or make food available to a wongari (dingo) or intentionally attract or disturb a wongari (dingo) anywhere on K’gari (Fraser Island), whether on public or private land. Penalties apply. It is recommended that families with children camp in areas with wongari (dingo) deterrent fencing. For information visit https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/kgari-fraser . Fire Prohibition: Open fires must not be lit on QPWS managed areas of K’gari, except in fire rings at Dundubara and Waddy Point camping areas, where visitors must supply their own, clean, untreated milled timber for firewood and/or bring fuel.
