Simpson Desert (QAA Line)

Camp among rolling sand dunes under starry outback skies in Munga-Thirri National Park. Camping is permitted with 100m of the QAA Line only. There are no designated camping area or facilities. Mobile phone coverage in not available. A UHF or HF radio, satellite phone or personal location beacon (PLB) are essential. Access is suitable for high clearance 4WD vehicles only. The national park is closed from 1 December to 15 March due to extreme summer temperatures.
Warning! Only well-equipped visitors experienced in desert and remote area travel should enter Munga-Thirri National Park and the Simpson Desert. Isolation, hot weather, unexpected rain and potential vehicle breakdown require that you plan well ahead for your visit.
