Individual camping areas on Hinchinbrook Island are for boat-based camping and do not entitle people to hike the Thorsborne Trail. For Thorsborne Trail permits please visit Thorsborne Trail bookings.

Sunset Beach camping area is located on the north-east side of Hinchinbrook Island in South Shepherd Bay adjacent to Eva Island. The camping area can be reached by boat. It is not available to Thorsborne Trail walkers. The camping area is suitable for tent camping and no facilities are provided. Mobile phone coverage is poor.
