Waddy Point (top) camping area features a formal, fenced camping area set in coastal woodland near a rocky headland. The camping area is located on the north-east coast of K'gari, approximately 100km north of the Hook Point barge landing area and 5km north of Indian Head. Access is by high clearance 4WD only and off-road camper trailers. Facilities include water taps (treat water before drinking), flushing toilets, $2 coin-operated hot showers, picnic tables, gas barbecues, communal fire rings, washing-up facilities. Rubbish and recycling bins available at QPWS waste transfer station on the southern entrance to Orchid Beach township. Mobile phone coverage is generally not available, however there is a pay phone at the Orchid Beach store.
Wongari (dingo): It is an offence to feed or make food available to a wongari (dingo) or intentionally attract or disturb a wongari (dingo) anywhere on K’gari (Fraser Island), whether on public or private land. Penalties apply. It is recommended that families with children camp in areas with wongari (dingo) deterrent fencing. For information visit https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/kgari-fraser . Fire Prohibition: Open fires must not be lit on QPWS managed areas of K’gari, except in fire rings at Dundubara and Waddy Point camping areas, where visitors must supply their own, clean, untreated milled timber for firewood and/or bring fuel.
