Wathumba camping area is set behind the foredunes, near mangroves located on the western side of K’gari near the mouth of Wathumba Creek. This camping area is fenced and ideal for families with children. Access to the camping area is by high clearance 4WD vehicles, boats (high tide access upstream of mouth of Wathumba Creek) and off-road camper trailers. Facilities include a toilet block, picnic tables and nearby day-use area. Mobile phone coverage is intermittent.

Wongari (dingo): It is an offence to feed or make food available to a wongari (dingo) or intentionally attract or disturb a wongari (dingo) anywhere on K’gari (Fraser Island), whether on public or private land. Penalties apply. It is recommended that families with children camp in areas with wongari (dingo) deterrent fencing.
